Moalboal January 2002

Happy New Year to all you readers of my humble
newsletter, may the New Year be as bodacious as the
last one!!!!!

Most of us have now cured our hangover(s) after the
wild celebrations of Santa Claus (I believe in him)
and the New Year. Personally I spent Christmas Eve at
white beach with a bunch of volleyball players and
eggnog. Christmas day at Eve’s big party and New Years
Eve at Nelsons annual drink till you drop party.
Saavedra and Neptune had their party at Bulldog and
Visaya at Arista. What the other dive shops did, I
don’t know.

WEATHER:
Crappy. Cold and a bit of rain every day. Water
temperature has dropped to 26 and some nights the air
temp has gone down to 23. Today the weather is getting
better, so from now on it should be easy sailing.

ACTIVITIES:
We are now playing volleyball every Sunday at white
beach. This year there’s not enough people so organize
transportation or food, so jump into a tricycle (be
ready for a roller coaster ride) and bring whatever
you want to put on the BBQ.
Soccer is now played every Monday and Friday. Just
show up around 16:30 and join in. Oliver is back on
the beach so the pace of the game has picked up
considerably.

Courses: May 12, 2002. Have we scheduled an IDC here
in Neptune Diving Adventure? The IE will be in Cebu
City on the May 22-23, 2002. November 10, 2002. Have
we scheduled an IDC here in Neptune Diving Adventure?
The IE will be in Cebu City on the November 20-21,
2002. If any of you people are interested in taking
the IDC here with us at Neptune Diving Adventure or if
you know somebody else who might be interested in
taking there IDC. Please send us an email so we can
forward you some more information about the IDC & IE.

BIRTHS, SOCIAL AND GOSSIP:
Jilyn (Gian Lucas wife) delivered a healthy baby boy,
Alessandro (spelling might be wrong), on December 16.
Welcome.
Ferdinand, Merla had a nice party for their daughter
Jacqueline’s baptism. I never knew that there was that
many Swiss people on the beach until that party.

Eve (Eve’s kiosk) and Albert threw the biggest wedding
I’ve seen on the beach, January the third, when they
got married. Congratulations and may you be happy ever
after.

After having had a major renovation of her restaurant,
Hannah threw a big Caiprininja party close to the end
of the Year. The restaurant looks really good now, the
food and the Caiprininja were really tasty.

Claus has opened a quite popular minibar, “R”Bestro,
opposite Red Banana.

Neptune is now: Cebu Neptune Diving Adventure, Inc.

There is 6 baby white tip sharks under a table coral
on the east side of Pescador. They have been there for
a month now. Please do not try to touch them. Bill
Mobbs tried something like that a few years ago, the
shark got scared and never came back.

Joris Rombouts is now working at Neptune.

Mario has won 3 out of 4 pool tournaments. Oliver
managed to beat him in one Final

ARRIVING:
Cebu City Sinulog, Jan 20, one of the biggest
parades/celebrations in Asia. Do not plan to arrive or
depart Cebu that day.

WHALE SHARK SIGHTINGS:

LETTERS FROM ABROAD:

Tall Lars sends his Happy New Years wishes from
Dominican Republic where here works as a manager for a
dive shop. From his letter it sounds like he’s having
too much fun and says that he “shall be back in
Moalboal”. . I don’t know if that’s a threat or a
promise :)

Elisabeth Writes:
Hello people form Panagsama, Yesterday I had a very
nice phone call from Sweden from our friend Susanne.
You all might imagine what was the purpose of that
call, isnt'it? YES!! our "Devil Women" is now a "Super
Mama", is somebody interested in writing a song for
her? HA!HA! Theyre computer is out of order for the
moment, that's the reason she asked me to forward the
new to everybody. Well those are the facts I learned
yesterday : The babies were supposed to arrive on
November 23rd but they finally decided to come just a
day earlier, that is to say last thursday the 22nd,
November. Susanne wanted to have a normal deliverance
and she tried very hard (very well supported by Andy)
for 23 hours. After that looooonnnng time they had to
decide to do a "Cesarienne" (not sure that its the
right word in english). Then a wonderful girl (Selma)
and an amazing boy (Pelle) appeared in our world for
the extrem happiness of Andy and Susanne. Each baby
was over the 3kg !!!! Good job guys!! Andy and Susanne
are over the moon and everybody is very fine despite
that Susie is very weak still, as she lost a lot of
blood during the deliverance. Just need a little rest
(HUM! HUM!! Is that "rest" a word existing in new
parents vocabulary?)

Rudy Poiters writes:
Did you see Jens Peters English Edition Page 534? Buoy
oh Buoy! In 1998 blablabla 26 buoys blablabla dive
boats can now blablabla giving divers the opportunity
to contribute to the preservation of the fragile coral
reefs by refusing to patronize boats unless they use
those buoys! I must admit I am a little bit proud of
that. Still I am glad to hear the buoys are still up
and well maintained though this is probably something
unique on the Philippines. Thanks Rudy for talking
Jens into writing that.

Keller Gino asks: Gibts den die News nicht einmal in
Deutsch ?
Gruss GIK. Sorry Gino this is an international thing.
Good for you to practice your english

ACCORDING TO NELSON (our inside man into politics
here):
The sanctuary past white beach is now open. You have
to pay a fee.

YA GOTTO LOVE THIS COUNTRY!
17 days before Christmas the post office ran out of
stamps. Well, that was “No Worries” because you only
had to wait 8 days and then they had them in stock
again.
