Moalboal December 2003

Happy New Year, Friends of Moalboal!!

Soon a New Year and Santa Claus have already been here. Did you by
the way now that the real Santa comes from my hometown in Sweden?
Many parties over Christmas and we are now looking forward to the
New Years Eve parties.

Since my last letter I managed to spend two weeks in Belgium and a
few days in Japan. My girlfriend Chikako (Chicago) went to Belgium
to visit a friend and someone tried to snatch her bag in Brussels.
She's a tough girl so she held on to the bag and but fell to the
ground. She broke the collarbone where it meets the shoulder and hit
her head (she did not loose the bag). Now she has a titanium plate
and a few screws in her shoulder.

I flew over to help her to get home and managed to spend a few days
in Japan as well. Chicago's shoulder is now in a sling and she still
has a bit of pain. The hearing is now almost 100%. Send her an E-

I'm sad to tell you that Kanae died on December first in Japan. She
probably had a brain hemorrhage. She was like a mother to most
Japanese people here in Moalboal. Whenever the T-shirt ladies found
a Japanese tourist looking lost they took them to Kanae. I know she
is one of the nicest persons I've ever met. Kanae, we will miss you.

WEATHER:
Rain, rain and rain. Cold, yesterday evening it went down to 23
Celsius. Hopefully it will clear up in a few days.

ACTIVITIES:
Christmas parties and other parties just about every day now.
Volleyball at white beach every Sunday around two O'clock
Savedra, Neptune and Chili Bar will have a joint New Years Eve party
on the Square outside Chili. Starting 21:00 everybody welcome. Bring
whatever you want to drink.
Nelsons Dive shop will drink beer under water around lunchtime on
New Years Eve. That's for very advanced divers only.

BIRTHS, SOCIAL AND GOSSIP:

CHILI, the new bar opened last Monday. Dead pig and 35 cases of beer
made 250 people very happy. CHILI already looks like the busiest
place on the beach.
AiAi (Nelsons daughter) is pregnant, kid due in July. She and Mark
will be here in 10 days or so.
Minang (former co-owner of hotshot) has opened a good Pharmacy in
Moalboal. They will stock any kind (almost) of drug a diver might
need. She also have a folder where you can read what affects the
drug might have when diving.
Calle (owner Savedra dive shop) has opened a Photo shop in Moalboal
Ling-Lings old Visaya restaurant has now changed owner. Gunter,
Gisela and Margit have opened a cocktail / video bar there. You can
bring your own UW-video and they can play it for you on a big screen.
