Moalboal 2008

Hi, friends of Moalboal!!

The beach is gearing up for the high season and we are all curious about how the global financial crisis will affect tourism in the Philippines. Good thing for foreigners is that the Peso has plummeted and is now trading around 48 pesos to the US dollar.

Chicago and I are now working on another boat; check out http://www.mypeacefulfish.com/index.php?/Features-Specs/dive-operations.... for some serious dive equipment. The boat will not win any beauty contests but that's OK. Ugly but dependable, just like myself. We are in Nassau, Bahamas at the moment but hope to be in Moalboal in December for vacation.

I just read through this letter and must say that it's one of the thinnest mailing list letters (#67 so far) I've ever sent. I hope to improve and write something more useful once I've visited this winter. Kicki (Swedish beach mother) just wrote to me and said that this low season has been really low and she did not come up with much gossip either.

DO NOT FORGET CHILI BAR 5 YEARS OLD. PARTY AT CHILI DECEMBER 15'th. They will serve my favorite beer????FREE BEER

BIRTHS, SOCIAL AND GOSSIP:

Dianne (owns a bar across from Chili) has re-modeled and renamed her bar: D' HAVANNA(H). It's still a gay bar but this time with more of a native style.

There is no problem with water at the moment and they are building the new water pipe. Rumor is that the new water pipe will be up and running in the beginning of next year???ya right.

Jochen celebrated OCTOBER FEST at his resort Oct 25'th. Kicki said that there was lots of beer and great food????..well, that all you need hey??lots of ICE COLD BEER.

Peter (GERPHIL bakery) has died. He started making bread up on white beach road and later opened up a restaurant across the street from the bakery. We will miss him.

AnAn, Jörgen's girlfriend, just passed the national Swedish language test after only 3 months of studies. For most other students it takes 2 years. She will be in Moalboal Nov. 20 if you want to congratulate her.

WHALE SHARK SIGHTINGS:

To get the absolute latest whale shark sightings go to Chili Bar and look at the notice board there. Anyone putting up a sighting receives a free Ning-Ning drink.

Once you have taken a picture of your whale shark you should go to http://www.whaleshark.org, they will register the shark.

Sorry to say. I know there's whale sharks every week in Moalboal these days....but no one tells me who saw them.

LETTERS FROM ABROAD:

Hi Lars,

I recently discovered the nice Olympic size pool in Dumanjug.
I would like to start something like a weekly "Moalboal Swim Team Session".

Just wanted to ask about your opinion, or if you know other people in
Moalboal interested in swimming, immersion (new swimming style).

Bye,

Wolfgang
