Moalboal 2004

Hi, friends of Moalboal!!

It's me, Lars writing again after Jochens August letter. I will try
to do it as good as him. This letter might be my last one for a long
time. That's what I wrote last time but was back at it already after
4 months, last time. I have now found myself another boat so I'm

We are now in Italy but will go to the Caribbean this winter. Chicago
has a job in the Maldives as dive instructor, starting in the end of
September.
Mike and Jorgen have promised to write the news letter when I'm
gone. They are still in Sweden but will be in Moalboal in November.
Tourism is now picking up in Moalboal. Lots of new faces now during
low season and many dive shops have more bookings then ever.
The Philippines is still giving you good value for your money. The
exchange rate is around 56Php / 1US$. Most hotel rooms are up around
100Php now so inflation is starting to hit. Lots of foreigners buying
land and building houses all over Moalboal.

ACTIVITIES:

Volleyball at White beach on Sundays.
Pool tournament in Chili every Wednesday 20:00

BIRTHS, SOCIAL AND GOSSIP:
Jochen, Planet Action, is planning to open a good old German beer
garden where Buddy's bar used to be. If you do not remember Buddy's
bar?.well that was the house Juris and Sabine rented??.close to Roxy.

PRACTICAL:

There is now a new wreck diving place in Moalboal. Daniel sunk his
diveboat just in front of Asia- Belgium dive shop. I have not been
there but it's supposed to be just on the drop- off.

Chili now has its own WEB site: http://www.chili4fun.com log in and write
something in the logbook. They have also just installed a second good
pool table.

OK, the divemaster have buddied you up with some new diver. Here are
a few lines you might want to use just to make him feel a bit more
comfortable

# Damn, I forgot my corrective lenses. Can you point me to the water.

# Damn it! I've spilled fish blood all over my wetsuit.

# I' really surprised the doctors will still let me dive after my
last stroke.

# The bends aren't that bad! My regular buddy should be out of the
hospital anytime now.

# Yeah, I've been working on my air consumption. Now I can stay at 15
meters over 12 minutes.

# Hey, I'll bet I've spent more time in a recompression chamber than
you have!

# Don't worry about my mouth sores- we probably won't have to share
air anyway.

# Wow, that's amazing! Lose one buddy and the dive master just hands
over a free replacement!

WHALE SHARK SIGHTINGS:

Benjim, Diver at Nelson's Dive shop now has the record of spotting
Whale Sharks in Moalboal. 2 weeks ago he saw his sixteenth Shark.

There are also a number of thresher sharks in Moalboal now. Abe,
owner Chili, has seen about 5 of them, most of them deep and outside
Oscars place and Nelsons Dive shop
