Moalboal April 2004

Hi, Friends of Moalboal!!

Easter has just passed. Just after Easter is usually when the big
low season starts. Now there is a lot of talk between foreigners
when they will leave and what they will work with when they go back
home. Now, is in my opinion, the best time to come here. Warm,
little rain and good diving. Lots of leaving parties as well, hahaha.

WEATHER:
About 30 degrees, sunshine and blue skies every day. There is
however a typhoon on it's way towards The Philippines. That is very
unusual this time of the year.

ACTIVITIES:

Volleyball at white beach every Sunday around two O'clock.
Steve (co-owner Chili) was also pushing for volleyball on
Wednesdays, starting 15:00 at WB. Unfortunately, he did not show up
himself so that one is probably off. Better luck next season Steve.
Soccer every Monday and Friday, starting 16:30. (Please observe the
new starting time.

BIRTHS, SOCIAL AND GOSSIP:

The friendly fat mailman is not with us anymore, he got run over by
a car.

Klaus (Italian Corner) and Rea, his girlfriend, are expecting a kid.
It's not official yet so do not tell anyone.

Tony (American, dives with Nelsons) will marry Vangie by the end of
this year. I told him that we can have Chili look like an Elvis
chapel with lots of `` Hunk of Love``.

Peter, German and new on the beach, have now opened a bake shop,
PhilGer bake shop, on the road to White beach.

When out snorkeling outside a dive shop I just overheard a female
student asking her instructor: `` Is it really true that I will sink
if you pull out your finger``

The price for one case of beer has increased from 260 to 282 Peso.

Kumas wife Marissa gave birth to Yulla-Marie in the beginning of
this month.

The Moalboal / Chili Go-Cart championship 2004 was held in Cebu City
a few weeks' ago.18 people from the beach were racing like crazy.
I'm just too modest to tell you who became Champion. After the big
race we all went to RatskyŽs for Pizza and beer buffet. Steve, Mika
and Markku won the buffet race (they did not even make it back to
the beach)

A friend of mine, ( Perik, works for a big beer brewery) took a
bottle of San Miguel beer back to Sweden and had the alcohol %
tested. The % in that bottle was 4.85%.

Even though not much happens on the beach, Moalboal town is changing
rapidly. There is now a Dunkin-Doughnut outlet were Pableos used to
be.

PRACTICAL:

This tip comes from Alain (Swiss, owner of Typee the big dive boat).
If there is a fish that you would like to check, go to
http://www.fishbase.org . I have tried it and it is excellent. By the way,
his liveaboard dive boat is still for sale. Maybe you need one.

If anyone has any information that they think would be interesting
for people on this list, please do let me know and I will add it in.
If you know anyone that would like to receive this letter, please
