Moalboal July 2004

Hi, friends of Moalboal!!

Summer greetings from good ol'e Moalboal. We've had a lot of
Typhoons here lately. The three typhoons that went by did not hit us
but gave us a lot of rain and wind. Northern Luzon got hit hard by
the last one. Weather is not like it used to be. Typhoon season
usually starts in August.

It's nice and quiet here now. I now finally feel that I have time to
do all that small stuff that should have been done months ago. Mend
the roof, cut the papaya tree and so on.

Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is now finally the president. It took them
almost 6 weeks to count the votes.

The Peso is still low for some reason. 1? = 70 Peso. Since the
election there's a lot of fake money circulating. It's cheaper for
politicians to buy votes with fake money.

ACTIVITIES:

Not a lot, but we did play volleyball at white beach last Sunday

BIRTHS, SOCIAL AND GOSSIP:

Moalboal now has a fire truck. Well it's actually a fire pump on a
trailer, but better than nothing.

Globe has installed a cell phone mast on the beach so we now have
good coverage here.

The South Road is now open. It starts downtown Colon and ends in
Talisay. You save almost 30 min taking that road when going to
Moalboal.

ARRIVING / ARRIVED:

Terrible BOB should be here any day now. Hopefully Motis café will
open then. I like the smell of curry.

PRACTICAL:

Roland says that his guesthouse / restaurant is for sale. It's
located just south of Mollies restaurant. He wants 40 000 $AUS

Soo, OK. I'm sure that you are one of those divers that has been to
Moalboal many times and done about fifty-nine thousand dives but
have a hard time knowing what to say to a new diver that has not
even had his first piss in a wet suit yet. Here's some stuff to
break the ice:
1. No No No, that fin goes on your other foot.
2. No, just spit in it and leave it there.
3. Sure, the newest diver always carries his buddy's tank.
4. Rule No. 1 More weight equals more bottom time.
5. The bottom time is a relative figure since most of the time you
don't touch bottom.
6. No, really, it's warmer at the bottom

CHILI now has a web site, http://www.chili4fun.com . Check it out and send
comments to Mike.

WHALE SHARK SIGHTINGS:

Still plenty of whale sharks here. The last one I heard of was at
Tongo point 4 days ago.

LARS TROPICAL TIP:

Next time you go traveling, scan your passport and other important
documents. Send them to your own Yahoo or Hotmail account. That way
you will always be able to get a copy of your stuff fast.
