Moalboal 2007

Hi, friends of Moalboal!!

Already March hey. Low season should start to kick in but there are
still a lot of tourists on the beach.

Diving is good now but I'm waiting for warmer water. 27 Celsius is
almost freezing but we should soon see 28-29.

Election time is coming up here. I might be wrong but as far as I
know there are 3 strong candidates for the mayor's position. Titing
Cabaron's (the mayor now) wife with Nelson as vice mayor, Felix
Pocong and The wife of Titing Cabaron's brother.

ACTIVITIES:

Moalboal Pool championship every Wednesday at Chili Bar. Starting
20:30

Jochen, Planet Action, is still making sure that there's soccer every
Monday and Friday up in Moalboal. If you want to play, just show up
16:30.

BIRTHS, SOCIAL AND GOSSIP:

The home Boyz made it to semi final in "Thirsty cup soccer" before it
was over. Just about everybody was injured so they did well.

Kasai-Micke had a big birthday party at his resort. That place (Kasai
Village) is really up and running now and it has a good feel to it.

Rodalena (Roland and Ruffa's girl) will be 6 on Sunday

Salah (Our Kuwaiti connection) tried a new concept for his birthday,
He invited everyone for Tequila party at Chief Mau at midnight.
Tequila you can drink anytime but the day after I wished I hadn't.

Narding Liberando died a few weeks ago. I still remember him playing
pool every day at Calypso back in the early 90'ties. He came from the
wealthiest family in Badian but he was always friendly and down to
earth. Narding we will miss you.

PRACTICAL:

There is now a list at the notice board in Chili Bar where you can
tell your friends to sign up for the newsletter. Or just have them
send me an e-mail.

In Moalboal there are 2 Cell phone antennas, Smart & Globe. At the
moment Globe is by far the best one for calling from Panagsama.

In the last newsletter I wrote that there's now Habal Habal from
Moalboal to the beach. Please do us all a favor, if you get on one
and it's too noisy. Get off and say "Too Noisy" and pick one with a
normal exhaust system. I hope that will stop the trend with modifying
their exhaust pipes and make the beach quieter.

For those of you that visit Cebu City and never find a bar with
people you know. Try Gecko Bar on Mango Ave. Most people I know from
Moalboal hang there when in town.

WHALE SHARK SIGHTINGS:

To get the absolute latest whale shark sightings go to Chili Bar and
look at the notice board there. Anyone putting up a sighting receives
a free Ning-Ning drink.

Chicago (my wife) saw 4 mandarin fish in one dive. That was just
outside our house. In one dive on the same spot I saw 7 turtles.

I hear more and more people see pygmy sea-horse now. Keep a sharp
lookout when down around 20-25 meters. Moalboal is amazing and more
and more professional photographers realize this. Kasai village had
one photographer that extended his stay 2 weeks to get more photos.
There's a lot of small stuff on the reef is you take your time.

Dear Lars,
It's now already two years ago that me and Marina visited
Moalboal,still we love to read the Moalboal Newsletter. At least
Moalboal is beginning to get a little bit popular in Belgium and I
can tell that on a diveforum here there's a lot off chatting about
Moalboal..Here in Belgium the cheapest way to visit the Philippines
for a short divingtrip,is to book with Jurgen,the husband from
Rowena,a lot off Belgians go to him for there Vacation.

Det ar Anders Paulsson fran Ange som skriver. Du var lite bekymrad
for att du inte trodde nan laste news fran Moalboal. Var inte det.
Det ar rena hogtidsstunderna varje gang jag laser nyheterna. Haruppe
ar vintern fortfarande kvar, ganska mkt sno och senast forra helgen
sa var termometern nere under -20. Da var jag i Marsfjallen. Det gick
knappt att vara ute. -20 och stenhard vind. Det gick ett ora at en
kompis. Ja ja sant kan handa. Han har ju orat kvar men han kommer
aldrig att ha nan kansel i det nat mera.
Jag var ju i Moalboal forra aret men da glassade du ju omkring pa
lady Lauren, nasta ar kanske vi ses. Jag ska forsoka aka i januari
eller nat. Time will tell. Ok ha det gott och halsa till Jörgen, Gin

LARS TROPICAL TIP:

Remember that Malt Whiskey should be drunk at room temperature??.but
not Philippino room temperature. Put the bottle in the fridge before
or leave an ice cube in the glass for 16 seconds.

YA GOTTO LOVE THIS COUNTRY!

It is now 6 years since I moved into my house. Every day since, a
gecko shits on my dining room floor. I have yet not seen him but like
clock work, there's a new shit daily on a spot 30 cm in diameter. You
don't get that in Europe HEY!
