Moalboal Jan 2005

Hi, friends of Moalboal!!

Since Lars is on the other side of the water (West Indies) I will
try to put a few words in print. Moalboal and Panagsama is still the
same lovely place. Many great people and not many non-great people
is still the recipe for this place. Lot of bad things happening
around us (Tsunamis, typhoons, landslides etc) but Moalboal stands
solid on Cebu.
Lots of people come and go. Bookings for February look really good
for many resorts and dive shops. With Whale sharks ''everywhere''
they should all been here yesterday.

ACTIVITIES:

Sundays are beach days! A new volleyball has been sponsored by
the ''homeboys'' and the game is on every Sunday. Steve brought some
Softball gear for further action. Hopefully that activity is up and
running soon. Mondays and Fridays we all meet in Moalboal for soccer
at 4.30pm. Ice-cold ''shandy'' afterwards as always (We'll try stay
away from the 2000p bills :-)
Wednesdays at 8, Chili has its weekly pool tournament

BIRTHS, SOCIAL AND GOSSIP:
''Tattoo 'n' SurfDude'' Oliver is now a proud father of a baby girl.
Glen The Swede is getting married on Feb 5 to Ireyn (about time for
another party!!??)
Also Jurgen and Rowina are proud parents of a baby girl. The bad
news for them lately is that someone stole their motorbike!
Chili had a great 1 year anniversary party on Dec 15. Plenty Chili
Con Carne, other foods and beers.
Jochen just bought a second action car. This time a nice 7 seats
van. Great seats for any passenger.
Jesper at Neptune has built a nice balcony outside the dive shop.
Badian Golf course is about to reopen. Great news 4 at least a few
on the beach :-)

After the ''loose stomach'' race, The local water seems to be
alright to drink again...but now with a strong chemical taste to it.
My advice: stick to bottled water.

Sun cellular have put a mast in the area. Sun 2 sun calls and text
are unlimited for 250p a month. A great deal for anyone (but still
it's not working perfectly though)

Canadian John won the 4 cook derby at Moalboal arena. Swedish
fighter with Coach Magnusson finished second. 2 winner got 75000p
each.

Ferdinand Poe ''Da King'' is dead. He was running against Gloria for
the president post. He died from something I don't know the English
word for. Let's call it brain break!

Ratsky's in the city still gives unlimited beer and pizza for 120p.
Everyday between 2-6pm. Add 30p for a pasta buffe!!! No I am not
joking!!!!

Neptune rents out a wide selection of DVD movies.
Chili added a Chili con Carne to its menu.
Exchange rate is still very good. 55.5 to a US$

ARRIVING / ARRIVED: The beach is packed with the regulars. It seems
that the ''family'' is getting bigger by the years. Newcomers
come....and stay ..... A few ''homeboys'' are missing for different
reasons, but we all will live through that. See ya later guys!

WHALE SHARK SIGHTINGS: The last few weeks been absolutely
unbelievable when it comes to whale shark reports. ``Everybody'' has
seen one....or many! The beach is full of videos and photos. David
has seen whale shark in 5 out of 8 dives. Johan had a 10 min
snorkeling with one...the list is endless. Even I got wet a couple
of times, but without whale shark of course. But for non-divers,
it's been a lot of shark fins to see on the surface as well.
Thresher shark is also seen now and then. Even jumping of White
Beach.

TROPICAL TIP: Use sun block! Keep the eyes on the ball while
playing soccer!

THE DEEP THOUGHT: Enjoy your life! You never know when it ends.
