Moalboal 2008

Hi, friends of Moalboal!!

Another year and more news from the beach. Christmas and New Years
eve parties are all over and we are well into February. High season
used to be in December but it now looks like it has moved and we are
not until now seeing hotels fully booked and lots of divers.

ACTIVITIES:

Moalboal Pool championship every Wednesday at Chili Bar. Starting
20:30

Jochen, Planet Action, is still making sure that there's soccer every
Monday and Friday up in Moalboal. If you want to play, just show up
16:30. There are always a few young local boys playing with us. They
are getting better and better but they do not have any football
shoes. Next time you come, bring some old (or new) shoes in smaller
seizes and give them to Jochen at Planet Action or make a donation in
his `'shoe box''

BIRTHS, SOCIAL AND GOSSIP:

Very sad to say, Ola Hansson a diver and frequent visitor to the
beach died in a diving accident in Norway. The funeral will be soon
in Karlskrona, Sweden.

PRACTICAL:

There is now a list at the notice board in Chili Bar where you can
tell your friends to sign up for the newsletter. Or just have them
send me an e-mail.

Guest can also request for pick up at the airport by request with a
reasonable charge.

The new water pipe to the beach is now 300 meters longer since
November but not yet past the Globe mast. There are also talks about
adding another water source. I will write more about that in the next
letter

There's a new resort at white beach located between Ravenala and
Serena, Barefoot resort, 5 rooms with ocean view. http://www.barefoot.ph

TAXI at Mactan airport: It now looks like they have managed to
organize the Taxi's at the airport a bit. To find a metered taxi you
need to turn right when coming out of the arrival hall. Walk across
the road and up the stairs to departure. There's a TAXI stand there.

Cebu will host the UN (United Nations) World tourism seminar in Cebu
Oct 22-25. Do not try to find a hotel room at that time.

WHALE SHARK SIGHTINGS:

To get the absolute latest whale shark sightings go to Chili Bar and
look at the notice board there. Anyone putting up a sighting receives
a free Ning-Ning drink.

Rudy's (owner Dolphin house) daughter saw and managed to film a sperm
whale at white beach.

Yesterday someone saw hammer head shark at Pescador.

Every week someone sees whale shark and thresher shark.
