#28 20th. October 2002

Hi, friends of Moalboal!!

I just got back from Sweden and the warmest summer
ever recorded there. At least the green house effect
has some advantages. Now in good ole’ Moalboal, pretty
much everything here looks the same.

Jochen has opened an action pub with a climbing wall.
The beer is cold and wall looks solid, I have not
tried it yet.

Claus, R’Bestro, has taken over the Italian corner now
and is building a conglomerate of that restaurant, the
bestro, a new bar and a sari sari. .

Roger Tapales is building a
twopooltableairconkaraokepub across from Chief Mao.

Bob, terrible bob, has in a clever way added a second
floor on top of Pescador Café’ where he now lives (at
the moment back in Japan)

There are also a lot of new buildings up in Moalboal.
Now you can even buy a motorcycle or a car there. A
café’ and two more bread shops. The shop closest to
the beach is supposed to sell bread that is not sweet.
Wow, that must be a first. I wish that one of you
mailing list readers that knows how to make bread the
way us non Filipino likes it, would go to a bake shop
and teach them.

Next issue I want to write a little bit about tech
diving, and hope all dive shops can tell me about what
they offer and what kind of equipment they have.

WEATHER:
El Nino is probably visiting a little early. It’s a
bit warmer than usually here. The water temperature is
great, really nice and warm.
In Sweden it was snowing when I left.

ACTIVITIES:

There are not enough people to play soccer yet, but
soon.
Is anyone interested in a “before high season
motorcycle trip”?
This coming Wednesday we will be invaded by 15 Swedes.
They are diving and doing a safari with Neptune.

BIRTHS, SOCIAL AND GOSSIP:

The secretaries of Sub Maldive, Saavedra and Neptune
are all pregnant and will have their babies in
December. If I were a dive shop owner I would tell me
secretary to have the kid during low season, hahaha

The water situation is OK now, you can even take a
shower in the middle of the day.

ARRIVING / ARRIVED:

Jesper, Swedish owner Neptune, just rode in on a
tricycle after a long visit in Sweden. Mike, owner of
old Hot Shot café and Alain, owner of Typee the live
aboard also just came back.

Mark, the Aussie shark, and his Wife Ai-Ai are soon
coming to the beach, so is also Andy and Susan with
their twins.

WHALE SHARK SIGHTINGS:
There is not that many but they did see two in July,
one on white beach and one on Pescador!!! That is as
far as I know, the first one seen on Pescador/
In the end of August they saw one at Casai wall.

ACCORDING TO NELSON (our inside man in the politics
here):

The road Moalboal to the beach only lacks 260 meters
of concrete and Nelson says that Congressman Kintanar
has promised him the money for the last part.

The municipality has told everyone in White Beach to
clear everything within 20 meters from the highest
high water mark. They have 6 months to do this or they
will have to go to court. I was there today, and now
it looks like a concretehollowblockfencekaraokeghetto.
It’s amazing how many ugly fences they have managed to
put up the last 5 months.

GENERAL:

If anyone has any information that they think would be
interesting for people on this list, please do let me
know and I will add it in.
If you know anyone that would like to receive this
letter, please tell him or her to send me an E-mail at
the address below and I will add him or her. I’ve
found it to hard to do it through

Best regards,
