Moalboal beginning of April

Hello People!!

Here comes another update from paradise: We are all looking forward to Easter with old customers/friends coming back for some diving. There are two new bars being built between last filling station and Hondas old restaurant. Iÿm sure they hope for some good business. You can always question the cleverness of opening a bar just before the real low season starts, but...........

This mail is the first one I have sent from the Internet cafe in Moalboal. The speed here is OK and at 30 peso/h you can't complain

If you are thinking about opening a business here in Panagsama: My suggestion is that you either open a place that shows videos every evening or a big bar with two pool tables, friendly staff, reasonably priced beer and an well organized pool tournament every week. This is something many of us miss here on the beach.

WEATHER:

The last two weeks have blessed us with sunshine and warm water. Now in the beginning of April we have high hightides and low lowtides, that makes for great drift-diving at Pescador but the viz does suffer a bit.

ACTIVITIES:

Jochens first ever action truck safari was cancelled, but check his web site for the next safari.

We had one organized white beach BBQ / volleyball last month. I think the best part of that BBQ was to watch Bob play volleyball :)

PC divers probably saw the last whale shark for the season in the beginning of March. They told me it was a big one.

BIRTHS, SOCIAL AND GOSSIP:

Rodalena, Roland and Ruffas baby came a little bit earlier than expected but without problem. Roland the proud father threw a nice big party at sunset view a few days later.

My and Chikakos new house was finally finished enough to have a house warming party. We were over 90 persons here eating some rice and pig.

LETTERS FROM ABROAD:
Takka writes that two of japans biggest dive magazines have articles about diving in Moalboal in their March issues. My guess is that the Japanese will be Moalboals biggest tourist group in five years

Patrick Ellis writes from upstate New York

Hello Lars, it sounds like you got a nice group there and you're enjoying yourselves. Are you guys from all over the world?
Getting the newsletter kind of psyches me up to get going on my next vacation. Thanks for the motivation....pat

Pat, these are the nationalities (as far as I know)on the beach: Japanese, Belgian, American, English, German, Swiss, Austrian, Italian, Dutch, Swedish, Norwegian, French, Cuban, Australian and Canadians. We are a pretty good mix of different nationalities, together we speak English.

Susan (the devil woman impersonator) writes from cold Sweden, that she enjoyed her 3-month stay here more than ever. This because there was more girls on the beach that she could hang with.

ACCORDING TO NELSON (our inside man into politics here):

We will probably see water shortage through the whole Easter week. They have extended the water distribution all the way to Tunga now but not yet started the work on the second reservoir.

There is big plans for building a railway from Colon to Mandaue and in the second phase extend it to Car Car
